An army of servers
In Matt's post, he writes about how everyone talks about Big Data, but shows that its actual adoption is highly overstated. The thing is, when you're talking about Big Data you're actually talking about running a lot of servers. I mean a lot of servers. And how can you do that in an efficiently manner? Yes, you have to automate. Though Puppet has competition in other open source tools like Chef, CF Engine, Ansible and Salt, Puppet has establish itself as the market leader. So when you actually say that you need someone with skills to mange your company's Big Data investment, you probably just mean someone with knowledge of administrating an army of servers with Puppet.
